Bowen Education Centre (Hougang)

Chinese can start to feel like a burden when a child falls behind and stops wanting to use it.

Bowen Education Centre in Hougang is a Chinese specialist that teaches the MOE syllabus for Chinese and Higher Chinese. Its aim, in its own words, is to build interest first, then confidence, then results.

How the centre teaches

Classes are small and grouped by level rather than by age alone, so a child can join the class that matches their language ability. Kindergarten to Primary 4 classes take 4 to 6 children, Primary 5 and 6 classes 6 to 8, and secondary classes 8 to 10. One-to-one lessons are also available, both at the centre and online. Parents' reviews mention structured, patient teaching that helped children who had lost confidence in Chinese.
